LOW PRICES and CLOSE Small market/convenience store in front of the Ritz Carlton (next door to our hotel) has tacos al pastor 8 pesos, carnitas 8 pesos, and arrachera 12 pesos. They are reported to be the best in Cancun. Corona and American beer are available. Locals, taxi drivers, police, and hotel staffers eat here. Pay inside, and then give your receipt to the cook. Open 24 hours. Don’t forget to tip the cook. EL FISH FRITANGA: Lagoon side NOT FANCY quaint bar/restaurant across from the police station just north of La Destilleria behind a small strip center. Then go down a flight of stairs to the marina. Fish tacos filled with nurse shark are a specialty, pescadillas, and camaroncillas less than $2 are to die for! They have very low prices but incredibly tasty fresh fish items.
REASONABLE PRICES and CLOSE HACIENDA SISAL: The top rated Mexican restaurant in Cancun is in our hotel. It has a complete breakfast buffet (including chilequillas and pozole) for 110 pesos. For dinner, reservations may be needed. They have excellent steak tacos and special lunch menu prices. No website.
SPECIAL and CLOSE LA MADONNA: Has OSSO BUCO. It has incredible food, service, and ambiance and is located in the La Isla Mall. They have a martini bar upstairs with 100 different martinis. It overlooks the lagoon for beautiful sunset views. EXCELLENT Maine Lobster and steaks are brought to the table for your choosing. STEAKS CAMBALACHE: Great steaks in the party zone in the forum mall. They are the same owners as Puerto Madero. They specialize in beef and pork grilled in a spit environment. SEAFOOD J C CAPITAN: Wonderful seafood menu reasonably priced. Small family owned restaurant at the bottom of the Hotel Zone. The grouper is known to be fabulous here. On the lagoon, it’s a great place to watch sunsets. CASH ONLY and reservations are recommended.
THE ULTIMATE CONQUISTADOR: The finest food and service in Cancun at the Royal Mayan Hotel. You must be staying at a Royal Hotel in order to make a reservation. Naturally it is expensive. However, since you may only live once, you might want to make a reservation. If you do, it is recommended you make your reservation the day you arrive. No website menu. It’s too EXCLUSIVE for a website menu!!!!! |
